Trinidad businesses missing the online boat- BIGTIME!

Following my move back to Trinidad, after ten years in New York, I’ve made a disturbing discovery: there is a woeful lack of Trinidad & Tobago companies online. What’s more disturbing is that average Trini shopper is actually LOOKING for them on the internet and they are just not there. Which leads me to conclude that Trini businesses are just not getting it, i.e. the absolute necessity of an internet presence.

On the plus side, I’ve had calls daily from individuals asking about sites to generate money, either as directories or to sell products or as affiliate sites to earn referral income. This leads me to conclude that the businesses that DO GET IT are poised for runaway success by virtue of being among the firsts out the gate while leaving the tortoises in the dust (and I’m working on several sites like these right now).

By the time these local businesses wake up the others will be firmly entrenched in the search engines while they scramble to lift their search rankings. All it takes is less than three thousand dollars ($3,000 TT) for a professional looking website- that’s including domain, hosting and website design folks!

That is so true. I get frustrated myself looking for local companies online, most of them just have email addresses but no website. It amazes me that TnT businesses are so far behind.
